Who Values Your Knowledge? Why Communities of Practice and Knowledge-Sharing Need Each Other

While much discussion has taken place on the virtues of knowledge-sharing, and on the concept of Communities of Practice as social organizations, little has been written on the synergistic relationship between the two. Hence the recent initiative to promote a ?knowledge-sharing society?? on the one hand, while on the other this KM4Dev issue addresses the theme of ?Communities of Practice ? a relic of the past or sign of the future??? This thought-piece presents an argument for the latter prognosis for Communities of Practice, based on the premise that knowledge-sharing succeeds only if it is done within a CoP.Descargas
